An Introduction from our Club President

Logo without border png formatSince 1970 the MFFC has been Southeast Michigan’s premier organization for fly fishing enthusiasts. Everyone interested in this great sport will find a home in the MFFC. The MFFC is a family and youth friendly organization. We welcome and offer programs for all ages and skill levels for anyone interested in fly fishing. Our mission is to perpetuate the crafts of fly fishing. The club offers a wide range of fly fishing activities and educational opportunities. If you want to learn to build a rod, we can show you how. If you’re interested in fly tying, we offer beginner and intermediate instruction. We also offer fly casting instructional opportunities for all skill levels.

If you want to hear from notable experts, the first meeting of each month typically features a speaker. If you want to share your knowledge with others, the club runs schools for members and non-members alike. If you just plain want to fish, the club offers a variety of outings throughout the year. First and foremost we are a fishing club and the opportunities to meet and fish with members of our club is nearly endless. And, as you might imagine, there’s no shortage of fishing stories.

Among the numerous events we host, our signature event is the Midwest Fly Fishing Exposition. Each spring, for over 30 years the club’s members come together to present this nationally recognized celebration of the sport of Fly Fishing. Held at the Sports & Exposition Center at Macomb Community College’s South Campus in Warren Michigan, this show has made it possible for the MFFC to bring Great Lakes-area the newest and best product offerings that our sport has to offer.  The Expo has broad appeal with programs, demos, and services for the experienced fly fisher to the young angler. The MFFC believes that the young fly fishing enthusiasts represent the future of our sport and we make special efforts to make youth focused activities a key part of the Expo. There are manytrout jumping for fly children oriented areas and programs include in the Expo, so make sure to include the entire family. Thanks to years of support from Fly Fishing enthusiasts for this exposition, the MFFC has been able to channel over $320,000 to habitat restoration, conservation and education programs across the state of Michigan and throughout the United States

Clearly, we think we have a lot to offer. I hope you’ll pay us a visit to see what we’re all about. Thank you for your interest. I look forward to seeing you at one of our club meetings. Visitors to our meetings are always welcome.
