Each September many members of The Michigan Fly Fishing Club spend time together with many other fly fishers from around the state and walk areas of our beloved Manistee River and clean debris from its river bottom and banks. The cleanup, which is sponsored by The Upper Manistee River Association, is a wonderful way to give something back to the river we fish during the summer.
This event is always held rain or shine
We wade ‘beats’ that run from one access point to another and with our poking sticks and plastic rubbish bags collect items that have been dropped or lost during the summer. Between beer cans, flip flops and the occasional bathing suit its always an adventure.

PLEASE PRE-REGISTER FOR THIS EVENT
The Upper Manistee River Association is sponsoring the Manistee River clean-up and work bee. Volunteers will meet at the Ole Barn (Red Barn west of Grayling on M-72) at 9:00 am, break into teams and head to the River to pickup trash, repair landings and plant trees. Then it’s back to the Barn for a well-deserved and delicious lunch. We could really use your help. That River has been good to us, so let’s be good to it.
