Well, I managed to get a few fish for the kids korner fish tank from the trout pond at Outdoorama. Now if I can just keep them alive for the next week!! Between the kids wanting to stick their hands, any just about everything else, in the tank and my Lab who has for the past  2 years eaten several trout that fell to the bottom of my boat, it's gonna be hard. The fish managed to make it home yesterday from the show.

Got the temp tank set up... Didn't know I'd be getting fish or I'd have done it prior and let the water "condition".... Added a few drops of this and a few drops of that and held my breath. At lest they didn't go belly up immediately upon hitting the water.

What a surprise, they're still live the next morning!

They looked hungry, or so said my 4yr old... So up to the pet store for whatever we could find. Not too much of the shelf for trout as you can imagine ;-)

Let's hope they'll make it to the show. If the kids there like them as much as mine do they should be a huge hit!!

March 3rd....
Well, they made it through another night and another 3 blocks of ice. It's quite a pain in the rear to keep the tank between 55-60; ice blocks every couple hours are really getting old. One interesting thing was watching the fish "feed" yesterday. How they approach and test the food, spit it out and come back to eat it... pretty cool to watch.

They've (the fish) established a hierarchy with the larger Golden being “King” as my eldest son calls him. Neat to watch how they interact, how the Golden will nip and keep the 2 other fish in-line with his wishes. They each have their place in the tank. The Rainbows on each flank towards, and often on, the bottom and the “King” in the middle as to keep an elevated eye on his domain.

Well, 2 days down and 4 to go!
