As part of outreach and education for the MFFC, we staff an activity booth at The Ultimate Fishing Show where Club members teach young participants to tie Wooly Buggers for fishing, and guide them through fly rod casting on the pond. Volunteers needed.
MFFC members can take free classes including entomology, fly tying, equipment knowledge, stream etiquette, and fly casting. Lunch is included. Check it out for more info!

For two days each March, the Michigan Fly Fishing Club (MFFC) hosts the Great Lakes-area’s premier event for all things fly fishing — the Midwest Fly Fishing Expo. Youth School provides an enjoyable and positive fly fishing experience for young people (age 7-16) while educating them in all aspects of fly fishing. They will be taught stream-side safety and etiquette. They will learn about the different kinds of fly rods, reels, lines, and leaders. Materials are provided. The date is currently tentative so make sure to watch this site for updates!
