- This event has passed.
May 6, 2020 @ 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm
All meetings start with our club president asking if we have any new people at our meeting.
After introductions he moves on to ask “anyone been fishing….” This is where one can spread all kind of truth.
Then he will run through the list of upcoming events or outings asking the chairman of each to stand up and tell us the latest news and frequently ask for volunteers to help out.
Then we break for the Activities of the evening, which include:
- Fly tying instructions, with club provided equipment, where you can learn basics and advanced techniques to tie some new flies. There are usually two separate tables with different instructors.
- Fly Casting in the gym. Expert casters are on hand to teach beginners and experienced casters to enhanced their cast skills.
- Club Library: The club has a collection of 200 books and 300 videos covering every facet of fly fishing including many relating to specific destinations. Club patches, window stickers, and a few other club related items can be purchased from the librarian.
- Rod Building (After Christmas) Get a great price on a ROD KIT and you will learn how to complete all of the steps to build your own quality Fly Rod.
Coffee and delightful snacks are always available and lots of camaraderie with fellow fly fishing enthusiasts.
After about an hour we reconvene for the bi-monthly (2x/mo) Raffle Drawing. Tickets are 7 for $5. The prizes include all kinds of things for fly fishing, books, fly tying materials, flies, and the last item in the drawing is usually a Fly Rod and Reel (sometimes pre-loaded with backing and fly line). (Anyone can buy tickets, only Club members can win)
These activity meetings are a great place to learn some new skills to enhance your fly fishing experience, and maybe someone will slip and tell you about their secrete fishing spot.
