February Speaker Meeting – Lance Nelson

Lance Nelson of Gates Au Sable Lodge will be presenting Euro-Nymph Flies.
Lance Nelson grew up in Michigan and has been chasing various species of fish around ever since he was old enough to ride a bicycle without training wheels. It wasn’t until he moved to South West Michigan in 2010 that he started pursuing trout and steelhead. When it became obvious that his hobby of fly fishing had become a full blown lifestyle, he walked away from his career as a commercial photographer and moved to Grayling, MI.
Lance has been a fly shop employee, commercial fly tyer, guide, instructor and a warm and curious personality at Gates Au Sable Lodge since 2018. He is one to preach versatility and employs many unique styles of fly fishing on his home waters of the Au Sable and Manistee Rivers. Above all, dry fly fishing will always be his favorite, but it is hard to beat breaking down a pool or run with European tight-line nymphing techniques any time of the year.
