Dr. Jordyn Stoll is Michigan Trout Unlimited’s new Aquatic Ecologist. After finishing her dissertation work on algal responses to nutrient enrichment, Jordyn joined the MITU team to expand stream restoration and conservation efforts, including developing a citizen-led didymo monitoring program.
At the event, Jordyn will discuss invasive species ecology, algae 101, what makes didymo (rock snot) special and how we can all work together to limit the derogatory effects didymo can have on otherwise pristine streams. Jordyn is working towards expanding the didymo monitoring program, and hopes to engage members to participate in early detection and research efforts to better understand didymo blooms in Michigan.
If you have any questions or would like to join Jordyn’s crusade to combat didymo, please don’t hesitate to reach out to her at jordyn.stoll@michigantu.org.
