July Speaker Meeting – Joe Jelsomeno

July 1 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Joe Jelsmeno will talk about fishing the Flint River watershed.

Joe Jelsomeno is a fly fishing guide and sales associate at Motor City Anglers. He has over 20
years of fly fishing experience. Joe was introduced to fly fishing at a very young age, cutting his
teeth on the Au Sable River. He spent most of his free time at the family cabin up near Grayling
where he also learned to tie flies from neighbor Lou Burhart. Joe grew up downriver in the city of Wyandotte. During high school he shifted his focus from trout to warmwater fish,
primarily smallmouth. He has fished all over the country and pursued a wide variety of species,
ranging from Redfish in Louisiana to Cutthroat in the Uinta Mountains. Joe loves sharing his
passion for fly fishing with novice and veteran anglers alike and believes the connection to
nature is what makes fly fishing so special.

July 1, he will discuss wade fishing for bass on the Huron and Flint rivers. We will
cover what flies are effective as a wading angler, what lines and gear are best and
what data to be aware of before fishing on foot.

*MFFC business meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. EST, learn about upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, hear fishing reports, and general Club information. The speaker will take the floor around 8:00 p.m. EST.*
