Each September, on the Saturday after Labor Day, the Michigan Fly Fishing Club cleans debris from the Au Sable river bottom and banks. The cleanup, sponsored by the Anglers of the AuSable, is a wonderful way to give something back to the river we fish during the summer. We wade ‘beats’ that run from one access point to another and with our poking sticks and plastic rubbish bags collect items that have been dropped or lost during the summer. Between beer cans, flip flops and the occasional bathing suit its always an adventure.
